The Burning Ghost Town

In 1962 a fire lit to clear landfill ignited a coal vein running through the town of Centralia, Pennsylvania. Before the surface flames could be extinguished, the fire spread underground, entering abandoned mines. It’s estimated the fire could burn for over 200 years. Once a thriving town of nearly 3000 residents, Centralia has now all but disappeared.
