Many of the houses within the old town of Jodhpur are painted blue. Why? Folklore suggests it began as a way for Brahmins (the member of the highest Hindu caste) to distinguish themselves from the rest of the population. Jodhpur sits on the edge of the Thar Desert so blue labyrinth is best explored in the cooler months from August to January.
Walk up to Mehrangarh Fort for a spectacular view of the old town.
